Thanks to a generous donation to Pyxis by Jason and Colleen Braff in honor of their wedding guests, two students began studying at Alianza Americana in Leon, Nicaragua in May.
Alianza Americana is a bilingual academy that teaches students English as well as leadership and vocational skills. Oftentimes in developing nations like Nicaragua, the basic education is not enough to help a person succeed beyond their present ability. Alianza goes the extra mile to empower its students to create opportunities for themselves.
Jose Silva Garcia is a 23 year old young man who would like to study chemistry and pharmacy, and is learning the basics through Alianza Americana. A letter from him to you can be seen below.
As you can read in the story of Pyxis, a boy named Pedro Jose Chevez Barrera is the inspiration for what we do. As a result of the Braff’s gift, Pedro’s sister, Candida Rosa Barrera has begun studying English and receiving leadership training at Alianza Americana.
